Project history

    Genesys was developed in collaboration between the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, Bioversity International and the Crop Trust, with initial funding provided by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The portal was launched in 2011. In 2012, a task force recommended that the Crop Trust become the legal custodian of Genesys.
