About us

The Plant Database Map was created by Sabina Leonelli and Hugh Williamson as a tool to identify and visualise key players in the global landscape of data linkage for plant and agricultural research, as well as the history of plant data systems and various ways in which they can be compared and correlated.

The current version is a pilot created in late 2019 through European Research Council funding awarded to Sabina Leonelli for the DATA_SCIENCE project. We plan to continue the underpinning research on the history and current profile of various plant data systems in 2020 and 2021, thanks to the support of the Alan Turing Institute; and are looking for funding to expand this webpage into an online resource, both by adding information and by building new functionalities in the system.

When others submit input to this database, and wish to be acknowledged, that will happen here on this page.
